南瓜影院 is a community that cares about the environment and about the future. We take our role in creating more sustainable ways of living seriously — by constantly rethinking how we do things and taking innovative action.

南瓜影院 students engage in sustainability and conservation efforts both in and outside the classroom. In a summer sustainability course, students considered ways for cities to secure their energy futures.

南瓜影院 was certified as a Bee Campus for its efforts to create a more welcoming habitat for pollinators.

Earth-Friendly Efforts

Fresh vegetables harvested from 南瓜影院's student-run organic garden

The Living Plant Wall at the Integrated Science Center

Students make use of 南瓜影院's free bike share program, COBBikes.

南瓜影院's Taste Not Waste program aims to lower the amount of plate waste in the dining centers.

The High Tunnel is heated by solar power going into tile lines below the soil.

The Pollinator Garden promotes a pollinator-friendly environment.

Improvements at the Long Lake Field Station are focused on keeping the land and facilities sustainable.

Projects at Long Lake have been completed to preserve the land and provide a home for wildlife to thrive including a shoreline restoration project and the establishment of a high-density pollinator habitat.

Solar panels provide solar energy to the Integrated Science Center.

Conservation efforts in Fargo-Moorhead include reminders to refrain from dumping hazardous materials at public storm drains. 南瓜影院 students are involved in distributing these reminders.

Students organize the 100-Mile Thanksgiving Farmers Market to bring regional produce to the community.

As a member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), 南瓜影院 is dedicated to infusing sustainability principles into all aspects of campus operations and the curriculum.

In 2014, 南瓜影院 joined the rigorous Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Rating System (STARS). In 2021, the college's sustainability efforts were recognized with a Silver STARS rating.
