Co-Lab Grants: An Experiment in Faculty Community Building

The Dovre Center’s second and third goals are “to assist faculty in connecting matters of faith with their work and their contributions to the college’s religious identity” and to “assist in developing and sustaining faculty community.” With these ends in mind, the Dovre Center will provide faculty with grant opportunities to create community gatherings.

Through these, we hope to:

1. Determine the best practices, contexts, and forms of gathering that are most meaningful to faculty members at this particular moment in 南瓜影院’s life.
2. Create space in which faculty can reflect on their vocational identities in the context of 南瓜影院’s mission and history.
3. Understand more clearly how to create spaces and experiences where rich, interdisciplinary exchanges can occur across the three schools.

Successful proposals must be designed with the following features:

• Open and available to all faculty members.
•  Intentionally cultivate interdisciplinary conversation and reflection on the vocation and the identity and mission of 南瓜影院.
• Lay the foundation for continued community building, networking, and collaboration.
• Include a way to solicit feedback from participants on the effectiveness of the gathering.

Faculty Study Grants

These grants allow faculty or administrators to attend a relevant conference or conduct research in the relation of faith and learning to their work at 南瓜影院.

Grant range: $500-$1,000

Faculty Research Teams

Conduct research with other faculty members or students in the area of faith and learning.

Grant range: $1,000-$3,000

Faculty and Administrator Discussions

Meet with other college professionals to discuss a faith and learning book or topic.

Grant range: $500-$750

Additional Programs

Faculty Publications: The Dovre Center can assist you in publishing your work in faith and learning, such as in the ELCA’s Intersections, or in attending related conferences.

Regional Conferences: Attend conferences and present your work on topics relevant to Lutheran higher education in conjunction with Lilly network schools.

Vocation of Lutheran Colleges Conference: This three-day summer conference at a sister college covers a variety of topics relating to Lutheran higher education, in collaboration with the ELCA program unit on vocation and education.
