Prior to joining 南瓜影院, Becky worked in the public health field for the past 10 years in various roles. She began working in the environmental health sector, where she was responsible for inspecting licensed kitchens, pools, and hotels. Her background in microbiology was an asset for educating operators on the risks associated with food and waterborne illnesses (and how to prevent them). During COVID, Becky’s role switched to the pandemic response. She led the case investigation and contact tracing team for Clay County (which included several 南瓜影院 students and a professor). She also served as Clay County Public Health’s epidemiologist, which included public outreach and education, monitoring disease trends, preparing data reports for the public, staff, and county board, providing weekly updates at county board meetings, writing press releases, and conducting media interviews and press conferences. Becky also served as project manager for a data/epidemiology grant through the Minnesota Department of Health and led a shared staffing model across four counties to implement this new infrastructure in rural Minnesota counties.
Becky has a passion for educating others, and areas of particular interest to her are infectious disease transmission, epidemiology, and vaccine safety.
